SUMMER LEAGUE

Summer League Teams and Schedule Announced !

Hello Asheville Flightwheelers,

Just thought I'd take a rainy bank holiday moment to report that the Clean Plate Club officially ended the 2009 season this past weekend [this is a rather old email, so not really]. Here's a recollection:

February- Attended the Winter Glazed Tournament in Winston-Salem. Played in miserable weather Saturday, miserable-er weather Sunday. Epic comeback win to make semis, and then a valiant 4 people made our opponent earn finals in the sleet while others watched from cars.

April- Attended La Cucaracha mixed tourney in Hilton Head SC. Hung out with the legendary Sammy himself, lost in the finals.

May- Won the 5 versus 5 Charlotte tournament in the mixed division.

May- Attended the KUDZU classic of Rahleigh-Durham, performing admirably.

July- Attended Smoky Mountain Ultimate Tournament (SMUT) in Knoxville, TN. Placed a resounding third.

August- Lost in the finals of our own home town Ho Down, to TAU, who is going to Nationals in Sarasota.

August-Attended the summer Glazed Daze tourney of Winston-Salem. Slightly better weather. Successfully injured a few of our starters.

September- Went to Sean Adams Memorial Tournament in Chatanooga, TN. 3-1 day one, winning the loser's bracket on Sunday.

September- Placed second in North Carolina Sectionals, beating a heavily favored Olio team and losing again to TAU in the finals.

October- Traveling to Mid-Atlantic Regionals in Virginia and declaring ourselves 13th in the region. Advanced to the pancake bracket.

This past weekend[again this is old]- Achieved unprecedented success and good times in the hills west of town at the home of Dan and Heather Manget. Awoke surrounded by natural grandeur, cow patties.

It's been a glorious season, and though the above recap proves it's been long, it also has seemed to go pretty fast. To all the folks in the Asheville community that has partaken in the CPC family at some point or another, thanks for having you on board. To all who have been supportive and cheered us on while we've been traveling, you've been on the line with us too. And to all interested in what happens next year, read on...

Asheville's the place that a lot of people have moved to because they hear it agrees with our lifestyles, and for most of us reading, that includes ultimate. After the new year, if you're interested in committing yourself to both a good time and a higher finish in the fall series, come meet us. Although the good times come first to us, competitively representing us mountain hippies on the ultimate scene comes a close second.

Keep eating healthy,

The Clean Plate Club of 2009

SUNDAY PICKUP

4:00-6:00 Sunday at Memorial Stadium co-ed, all skill levels pick up and play Ultimate...tell your friends if you have any...tell yourself...write it on your hand...
'Note to self: remember to play Ultimate this SUNDAY at 4:00 until 6:00'...bring someone who never played... trick them into it if you have to - you can tell them you are taking them to a circus or fishing trip.

What is Sunday Ultimate?
Sunday Ultimate is Power-and-Splendor-of-the-BlueRidgeMountains-
and-the-Green-Grass-and-BlueSkys-Fun-
Good-Times-Happy-Feeling-Laughing-

Sunday Ultimate is extremely important but is surprisingly modest about it.
Sunday Ultimate is a bit disappointed in you lately...mostly for not coming out on Sundays but also for some of your disturbing behavior in local libraries.
Sunday Ultimate is all forgiving.
Sunday Ultimate, when not feeling appreciated, will sneak into your Mom's house and shave her cat.
Sunday Ultimate will grant you secret powers.
Sunday Ultimate, when ignored, will come to your house late at night demanding you take lessons in ballroom dancing.
Sunday Ultimate just wants to be loved and also a chicken burrito at a reasonable price.
Sunday Ultimate is just like you and me in a lot of ways except maybe about the shaving the cat thing.
